Jerome D Brilliantly done, Sonny was perfect Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/24 Full Review Akash A I was expecting a crime film and I got a coming of age film.Call me crazy but I did not see the appeal to this movie.Maybe I had the wrong expectations, but it did not feel like the genre marketed as.Robert DeNiro as a father was...a weird look, albeit a welcome change. But, the plot didn't really hook me. Narration from a kid was unique, but again, more indicative of a coming of age film than a crime film.Less crime elements and more coming of age elements.Thanks but I don't need to be taught how to live today.I also wasn't a fan of the prejudice / racial elements - though I understand it was prevalent then.Didn't see the appeal to this movie.
