Just think about it:

  • According to the Fractus Learning, all the major universities have a Facebook page.
  • 59% of college students use social networks for education.
  • And 96% of all educators believe that technology in the classroom can help improve the level of education and students’ engagement.
  • The face of education has changed dramatically within the last century. And it’s a good thing.

But it seems like our grandparents used to study less and had more time to live and have some other social activities. Meanwhile, modern students have to work so hard and keep so many things in the air that they end up having no time for… well, for anything.

However, there is one good thing that makes studying today easier. Technologies that have changed the landscape of our lives can make the process of studying much easier for students.

Thus, young people can utilize special tools during the term to shave off time and increase personal efficiency.

We have gathered seven applications that can make your student life much more fun and easier.

So, if you are looking for ways to save time and make the most out of student life, then consider checking these apps and downloading them on your smartphone.

Seven helpful apps for students

  1. Google Drive
Google Drive or Dropbox is a must-have app for every student. You will have to compose articles, complete term papers, create spreadsheets with files, and share with friends.
And all this is much easier when you have a common space to store all the files at. You can easily access the saved files wherever you are, and when they are all uploaded to your Google Drive, it is perfect!
Even if you go traveling or try to edit papers from a mobile device, with this app all the information you need is at your fingertips.
You might need a bit more space than Google offers you for free (only 15 Gb), but if we are talking about documents, books and presentations, 15 Gb is enough for an average student.
  2. Duolingo
Learning languages has never been easier. With this program, you will have a wide range of languages at your fingertips. you can learn the grammar, increase the vocabulary, and practice translation. Whatever it is you need, you can do it with Duolingo.
Besides, the creators of the app are striving to improve it. So, now you can not only learn languages by doing some exercises but also use flashcards and other activities to make the most out of this experience. The app is free of charge. However, you will see ads every now and then which you can turn off by buying a subscription.
  3. Today in History
As you can understand from the name, this app allows you to see what important events took place on the same day years ago in the history. Among things you will be informed about are birthdays and death anniversaries of famous people, events that occurred on the day and holidays to bear in mind. In general, a number of events it reminds you about during the year is around 100 thousand.
To keep up with the events, you only need to turn the notifications on and read them as they appear on the screen of your smartphone.
  4. Coursera
E-learning is one of the most popular approaches to education these days. It has plenty of advantages. That is why people of all ages and from all over the world take courses at the best universities.
And the interesting part is that you can take just one course you are really interested in without having to study a whole lot of information you do not care about. So, if you want to learn how to write a case study paper, you take a short writing course that won’t cost you much time or energy and not take all the general classes out there that do not have much use for you at the moment.
After you pass the final exam, you get a certificate with a signature of the lecturer that taught the course.
  5. Todoist
Being organized is at the core of successful studying process. However, many young people are challenged by the necessity of being organized and cannot deal with the pressure of academic requirements due to poor organization skills.
Brandon Gaille says that around 95% of all students have problems with procrastination. Those who find themselves procrastinating on a regular basis end up jeopardizing their relationships, career or, in case of students, education.
Therefore, to avoid significant time loss, students should consider using this application.
It is free, easy to use and extremely useful. Its design was planned in such a way that nothing inside the program distracts you from working. Besides, it works on vast numbers of devices. So, downloading and working with it will not be a problem.
  6. inClass
It is not a secret that taking notes is mandatory for students who want to do well at school. According to the Scientific American, taking notes apart from listening to the lecture is helpful because it stimulates better brain function and makes you remember things better.
In fact, they state that “taking notes by hand forces the brain to engage in some heavy “mental lifting,” and these efforts foster comprehension and retention.”
With this app, you can take notes and keep track of all your college activities. So, no deadlines will be missed or projects failed. Simply take notes of everything you are to do and even share it with your fellow students. The program will ensure you are doing your best to keep up with the studying.
  7. Evernote
And last but not least comes the Evernote. There is probably no need to explain how this app works, as it is extremely popular. But you definitely need to get it.
Not only you can take notes, create to-do lists and organize your studying process in it, but also take images to add to your notes and share documents across the devices.
You can share them with your friends if needed too. As you see, it is useful in so many ways it is hard to count.

Student life is a great time. And when organized right, you can enjoy it to the fullest. Thanks to the advances in technology, you can be well-organized and successful throughout college (and even after that). Moreover, you can have the social life and travel a lot when your life is well-structured.

Therefore, not to lose a chance to have that student life people are talking about all the time, use the technologies right. Pew Research states that 34% of all young adults are online almost constantly. And this harms their education.

Be wise when choosing the apps to install on your smartphone. Technologies should help you, not hurt your performance. And programs we mentioned above is a way to that!

What apps are you using for better performance during the school year? Share your opinion. We would love to hear what works best for you!
